Stars Hollow Stays

Welcome to the early 2000’s. “Friends” had ended and the world was in need of a new, heartwarming sitcom in the world of television. Behold, the brilliant Amy Sherman-Palladino presents the idea of a fun-loving, mother and daughter dynamic duo that would steal America’s hearts. This hilarious and family-oriented duo would be known as “Gilmore Girls”.

Seven years later, our beloved “Gilmore Girls” came to a close, and we had to say farewell to Stars Hollow. So we thought. Creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, is always one for surprises. Sherman-Palladino and Netflix have teamed up to announce that “Gilmore Girls” will continue as a limited series.

The crew which consists of Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop, and Scott Patterson, is getting back together. Even Rory’s ex-boyfriends will appear in the reunion, which includes Jared Padalecki, Matt Czuchry, and Milo Ventimiglia.

Unfortunately, Edward Herrmann, the adored, career-invested grandfather to Rory passed away last year. His proper, whimsical presence will be dearly missed during the reunion. How they will explain his disappearance on the show has yet to be announced.

There will be four episodes, all will be 90 minutes long. So many questions are to be answered. Questions like what is Rory doing now that she graduated from Yale? How are Lorelai and Luke handling the married life? Where is everyone now in Stars Hollow?

Rory’s love life is also a big question. Fans are either team Dean, Logan, or Jess, but which team is Rory rooting for? Eight whole years can change everything. Perhaps in these eight years, Rory has had a change of heart and has found her true love.

The announcement of “Gilmore Girls” coming back has been all over Twitter. Lauren Graham, who stars as Lorelai in “Gilmore Girls,” tweeted about the revival, “DUDES. I can’t confirm this. But I also can’t deny this…” Graham also retweeted a picture Ellen DeGeneres photoshopped of Graham, Alexis Bledel, and Ellen DeGeneres with the caption saying, “#CantWait.”

For those of you who are thinking, “What’s a Gilmore girl?,” let me explain. “Gilmore Girls” first aired on October 5, 2000. In “Gilmore Girls,” Lorelai Gilmore is the single mother to daughter, Rory Gilmore. Lorelai is a younger mom, due to having Rory when she was 16.

Lorelai and Rory have been inseparable since Rory was born. Lorelai has been able to support a life for herself and Rory in the small town of Stars Hollow, until Rory is accepted into Chilton, a prestigious, prep school that will help her get into an ivy-league college.

Lorelai is unable to pay for Chilton, so she must go to her distant parents for help. Lorelai’s mother agrees to help pay for Chilton as long as she and Lorelai’s father can be more involved in Rory’s life. The show continues with bumps in the road (such as getting into college and dealing with parents) that Lorelai and Rory face and the lessons they learn while overcoming them.

“Gilmore Girls” fans are rejoicing that their favorite Stars Hollow crew is making a reappearance. SHG senior Caroline Crabtree says, “It’s such a heartfelt television show. It really makes you appreciate your mom more.”

Now that you know “Gilmore Girls” is coming back, go tell your mom, and make sure you both watch the new episodes together! The arrival of the episodes have yet to be announced, but be prepared.
